The Selection Series - A Novel for a Princess

Well, we all have a dream when we're young (girl) - A dream of being a princess. Too many fantastic nights that we kept reading a fairy tale book full of mysteries, evil step-mothers , evil witches , and even happy endings. This is where our first romantic dreams began.

This novel is all about those dreams : ordinary girl turned into a princess , tragic yet happy endings really came true. It was the Selection Novel , written by the New York's Best Selling Author Kiera Cass.

The Selection Novel started from a teenage girl , America Singer , a 5. She belongs to a society where caste is a part of their everyday life. She belongs to the Artists and Musicians which are often fairly poor. Prince Maxon Schreave will be holding a selection for a prince's hand and the future princess. America didn't want to join the selection in the first place because she was secretly dating Aspen, a six. Her sister dropped off her name in the said competition which fortunately been chosen to be a participant. Aspen urges America to accept the opportunity at a better life. Later that night, America became devastated on what Aspen told her. Without support from Aspen , she travels to the palace where she has to compete with 34 other girls to win the prince's heart.

During the competition, America realizes that she like the prince. During the said selection, rebels constantly attack the palace, making things very tense, especially when the rebels seem to be gaining. During one of America and Maxon's date , she notices Aspen and realizes that he entered the palace as a new member of the royal guard. And as the selection book uncovered one-by-one, you will see the decisions of her which really affects her lifetime happiness and heart's desire. Who really is in her heart , is it Maxon - the prince whom she fell in love with while staying in the competition, or Aspen - the guy whom she secretly dated and shared their future plans before entering the selection.

The last 2 books are "The Heir" and "The Crown" which is all about Eadlyn Schreave. If you read the first 3 books on the The Selection Novel , you will know who she is. But for now I'm telling you that in these last 2 books it will all about Eadlyn , how her own selection started , and how she met his own prince.

I've read many books and I think this novel is the one which really taught me the biggest lesson in life. In the novel the protagonist- America Singer chose the undecided path for her life (when she entered the selection). She experienced many challenges along the way but she always bear in mind the kindness and courage she kept within herself. That made her the most beautiful among the 34 ladies in the selection. For my reflection, I'm just a normal teenage girl like her but I also need to get out of my comfort zone to know what I can do. I need to challenge myself to know my potentials and weaknesses - for me to become a better person, a better image of who I am before. That even if I chose the path that i don't know where it can take me, it will lead on the good one by just believing on my potentials and abilities . In this novel, you can see how an ordinary girl can change the life of the royal family, change the status of everyone in the society - to make people square and fair. That even with the help of the selection, you can still find where your heart really is.
